Nominations can be made until 5pm on 1st November 2019

Our Civic Awards aim to recognise Bingham residents, or groups who have done something exemplary which deserves to be recognised because of its benefit to the local community, or which is a good demonstration of high ideals, behaviour, great acts of kindness, dedication, or effort and achievement that bring credit upon the town of Bingham.

    About the Civic Awards

The Civic Awards use an ‘open’ nomination scheme. This means that anyone can nominate a resident or group within Bingham for an award.

There are not separate categories of awards or set number of awards in any specific year. The criteria below are not prescriptive, but simply guidance to help identify possible reasons why a nominee should be put forward.

    Young Person

A young person or group who have made a positive contribution to the local community or demonstrated exceptional community spirit and civic responsibility.

Excellence in fields, not normally awarded in other ways; acts of bravery, kindness in helping others, outstanding care for others or improving their community.

    Lifetime Achievement

An individual who, over a long period has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the community and those who live, work or learn in Bingham. This could include volunteering, community work, helping neighbours or carrying out exceptional deeds spanning a lifetime.

    Community Involvement

Individuals or groups based in Bingham who have made a positive contribution to the local community, people who make an extra effort to bring the community together or those who go out of their way to help others or a charity in their own time.

Those who make an outstanding contribution to the community; whether it’s popping in on a neighbour every day, organising or supporting community groups or events, or improving the locality for the benefit of everyone.

    Environment

Those who have made a significant difference to the conservation and protection of Bingham and its surrounding area’s natural environment.

Those people who work to celebrate or protect the environment we live in.

Someone who champions recycling, is passionate about protecting and conserving the environment or who is involved with an environmental project in Bingham.

    Art and Culture

Work in the arts in a voluntary or professional capacity for anyone who has made an outstanding contribution within Bingham.

Imaginative work in any of the arts, such as drama, dance, music literature, the visual arts and crafts including photography and/or demonstrated good practice in the organisation of arts, projects and events. The nominee may be the star of the show or who works behind the scenes, helping to make it happen.

    Sport

Outstanding sporting endeavour, whether playing, organising or contributing to local sports development or coaching.

Someone who has overcome adversity such as illness or disability to achieve a personal goal.
