    Bingham Civic Awards Nominations

    Nominations can be made until 5pm on 30th November 2020

    Our Civic Awards aim to recognise Bingham residents, or groups who have done something exemplary which deserves to be recognised because of its benefit to the local community, or which is a good demonstration of high ideals, behaviour, great acts of kindness, dedication, or effort and achievement that bring credit upon the town of Bingham.

    About the Civic Awards

    The Civic Awards use an ‘open’ nomination scheme. This means that anyone can nominate a resident or group within Bingham for an award.

    There are not separate categories of awards or set number of awards in any specific year. The criteria below are not prescriptive, but simply guidance to help identify possible reasons why a nominee should be put forward.

    Young Person

    A young person or group who have made a positive contribution to the local community or demonstrated exceptional community spirit and civic responsibility.

    Excellence in fields, not normally awarded in other ways; acts of bravery, kindness in helping others, outstanding care for others or improving their community.

    Lifetime Achievement

    An individual who, over a long period has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the community and those who live, work or learn in Bingham. This could include volunteering, community work, helping neighbours or carrying out exceptional deeds spanning a lifetime.

    Community Involvement

    Individuals or groups based in Bingham who have made a positive contribution to the local community, people who make an extra effort to bring the community together or those who go out of their way to help others or a charity in their own time.

    Those who make an outstanding contribution to the community; whether it’s popping in on a neighbour every day, organising or supporting community groups or events, or improving the locality for the benefit of everyone.

    Environment

    Those who have made a significant difference to the conservation and protection of Bingham and its surrounding area’s natural environment.

    Those people who work to celebrate or protect the environment we live in.

    Someone who champions recycling, is passionate about protecting and conserving the environment or who is involved with an environmental project in Bingham.

    Art and Culture

    Work in the arts in a voluntary or professional capacity for anyone who has made an outstanding contribution within Bingham.

    Imaginative work in any of the arts, such as drama, dance, music literature, the visual arts and crafts including photography and/or demonstrated good practice in the organisation of arts, projects and events. The nominee may be the star of the show or who works behind the scenes, helping to make it happen.

    Sport

    Outstanding sporting endeavour, whether playing, organising or contributing to local sports development or coaching.

    Someone who has overcome adversity such as illness or disability to achieve a personal goal.

    Someone who has given their time to working behind the scenes in Bingham’s local sporting clubs and groups.

    When can nominations be made?

    Nominations are welcomed from 1st October and nomination forms can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. Nomination forms are also available from the Town Hall or by sending a request via e-mail to

    When is the closing date for nominations for the Civic Awards?

    Nominations can be made until 5pm on 30th November 2020

    How will the winners of the awards be decided?

    Following the deadline date all the nominations will be passed to the Civic Awards Panel, who will draw up a shortlist of finalists and select the winners.

    Who forms the Civic Awards Panel?

    The Civic Awards Panel is chaired by the Mayor and includes Councillors from the Community and Environment Committee.

    When will the winners be announced?

    The winners of the Civic Awards will be announced February 2021.

    Important nomination information:

    • A separate form must be completed for each nomination.
    • Please ensure your applications are returned by 30th November 2020.
    • Bingham Council will collate information for the sole purpose of evaluating the nominations for the Civic Awards.
    • Information provided on the nomination form will only be disclosed to relevant council officers dealing with the Awards
      and members of the Civic Awards Panel.
    • The names of each winner and reasons for their nomination will be disclosed to the press and other media. You should note that applications for the Awards will be kept for a period of three years.
    • The Civic Awards Panel’s decision is final.

  • A1 southbound carriageway closure, Newark to Gonerby Moor, 19/20 October, 9pm-6am

    The southbound carriageway of the A1, between Newark and Gonerby Moor, will be closed from 9pm to 6am on the 19th and 20th of October. Diversion routes will be in place. Please see the attached document for further information.

    Temporary traffic signals will be in place on Fosse Way (the old A46) from Monday the 21st to Friday the 25th of September, 9:30am to 3:30pm. Please see the attached document for further information.
